Making a Difference

Tuscaloosa VA Federal Credit Union wins Merit Award

Tuscaloosa VA Federal Credit Union received the Alabama Credit Union League’s Merit Award this year.  The Merit Award is based on financial performance, overall value and service to members, as well as commitment to the community and to the credit union ideals.

We are honored to receive an award that encompasses the overall credit union philosophy of “People helping People.”  It is a joy to serve the members that we have.

Our philosophy at Tuscaloosa VA Federal Credit Union remains the same:  to provide the best service and value possible in order to allow each and every member to fulfill his or her dreams, build wealth and gain financial freedom.

Tuscaloosa VA Federal Credit Union was established in November 1951 through the efforts of seven employees at the Tuscaloosa VA Medical Center.  Their vision to make a positive difference in the lives of those employed by the medical center was realized and has continued for over 54 years.  We remain committed to our members every day!

Tuscaloosa VA Federal Credit Union Recognized Nationally in 3 Categories

Tuscaloosa VA FCU ranked in the Top Ten (nationally) in three separate categories according to the August 31, 2006 edition of the Credit Union Journal.

# 7 Total Return to Borrower
# 9 Total Return to Member
#10 Total Return to Saver

Tuscaloosa VA FCU was recognized for delivering “superior” value to it members when compared nationally with other credit unions of our size.  WOW!  Not just in one category but three.  We are very excited that the CU Journal recognized our efforts this past year.  This recognition is a testament to our dedicated employees and volunteer Board of Directors and Committee Members.

Our members come first, always; and, we plan to continue our efforts toward providing exceptional member service and value year after year.

According to the CU Journal, “[They have] featured the high-performers in the Return to the Member rankings as part of its Success Stories features, which examine why and how a credit union’s management has been able to drive the credit union’s success.

Return to Savers measures how well a credit union is doing in providing deposit services back to member.  Return to Borrowers takes into consideration that credit unions were created to provide credit to members at a reasonable cost.  And the final component is member service usage, which measures how efficiently a credit union provides and promotes services to its members.”
